Awe

Living amidst the operations of two coal-fired power plants in Cirebon, Arif Abdul Wahid, known as Awe, has witnessed the detrimental impacts of these plants on the health, economy, and environment of his community. Motivated by this concern, Awe actively participates in the campaign for the early cessation of coal-fired power plants. Alongside the communities of 350.org and Climate Rangers Cirebon, Awe advocates for the replacement of coal-fired power plants with environmentally friendly alternatives such as solar, water, and wind power. He engages in local discussions with key figures and community mem- bers in Cirebon. Awe also recognizes the opportunity presented by the upcoming 2024 presidential election, targeting presidential candidates with a campaign focused on urging their commitment to a sustainable energy transition. In addition to his environmental activism, Awe has been working at PKBI since 2017, demonstrating a strong commitment to addressing HIV/AIDS issues in Cirebon.
