For more than 4 years Karin has been dedicating her life as a lawyer at the Legal Aid Institute (LBH) advocating issues relating to women and children. Her concern for fighting for equality for vulnerable groups has also led her to be part of the communities fighting for equality for disabled groups, to become a translator for deaf friends, and to volunteer to educate young people about HIV AIDS.
Based on her experience and background, Karin recently founded LBH Peran (Women and Children) in West Kalimantan. Karin sees that the issues surrounding the haze and pollution of the Kapuas river are important issues that are closely related to the survival of women and children. Through her organization and capacity as a lawyer, Karin wants to facilitate citizen lawsuits for vulnerable groups affected by the haze caused by forest and land fires and pollution of the Kapuas river.
