The centralized nature of formal education, particularly in big cities like Jakarta, often creates a sense of inequality for many children and young people living in rural areas. It is this imbalance in access to educa- tion that motivated Kibo, as he is called, to support efforts to provide community learning spaces and explore innovative education opportunities for children and young people in the city of Sorong, West Papua, especially in the Bentang Laut Kepala Burung (BLKB) area.
According to Kibo, the approach to education and community empowerment, particularly among indigenous communities, is a crucial aspect of ensuring equality in sustainable development. Kibo currently works as a Community Development and Public Relations staff member at the Atap Langit Ecoducation Foundation, a local NGO in Papua that focuses on Conservation, Education & Empowerment. On a daily basis, he facilitates the creation of learn- ing spaces for local children and young people, both by providing books and reading spaces, visiting schools, providing environmental education, and promoting various social activities. "I enjoy the beauty of nature that God has given us. I believe that through education and empowerment, this beauty will be preserved for future generations," says Kibo.
In addition to his great concern for educational inequality, Kibo also has concerns about the widespread land conflict that occurs in many regions in Indonesia.
