Dayat believes that one way to prevent massive environmental damage is by mobilizing green economic centers by local residents. His hobby in exploring nature, especially in South Kalimantan, gives him the opportunity to capture the economic potential of his region and is encouraged to activate the community's green economic centers, such as through agriculture, plantations, tourism and fisheries. Besides being a journalist in a local media, Dayat has also started a sustainable tourism business in Hulu Sungai Tengah regency. The business includes tourism guide services, camping and rafting equipment rental services. By running a river tourism, together with the locals, he continues to encourage environmental conservation activities. Through his writing, Dayat also strives for the strengthening of the community-based green economy narrative, as well as criticizing the negligence of corporations, especially coal minings, towards the environmental preservation. In his campaign, Dayat intends to highlight the large number of land plots that have turned into coal mines and illegal excavations in his area.
