WeSpeakUp.org is a non-profit organization that strives to create space and remove barriers for women and marginalized communities to speak up and advance equality, through capacity building, civic engagement, and storytelling. WeSpeakUp.org is founded by all-women co-founders, hoping to increase women participation in leadership and social movements.
Building on years of experience in providing in-depth campaign support for change makers, we learn that women and youth from marginalized groups face multiple barriers to changemaking. The barriers include a lack of agency as a result of systemic injustice, lack of access to skills, safe spaces, and community support.
To address the problem, one of our programs "We Create Change” focuses on building the leadership capacity of women and youth changemakers, as an enabling condition to achieve the level of inclusion required to gain representation in political and digital spaces. So far we have supported 81women and youth changemakers from 24 provinces across Indonesia to create social impact on the issue they believe in.
