Talking about food waste, Dhanny Wijaya Setiawan, or Dhanny for short, is concerned about the amount of food waste that contributes to climate change while many people still suffer from the food crisis. This condition motivates him to think of innovative solutions, such as transforming food waste into a social enterprise that has economic value.
Together with his colleague, Dhanny initiated an initiative called "Urai", where they optimize decomposer animals to break down and reduce food waste. Although it is still in the early development stage, in the future, Dhanny aims to collaborate with animal shelters, restau- rants, and hotels to create a network where food waste can be utilized for animal feed and still-edible leftover food can be distributed to those in need or reprocessed.
With this vision, Dhanny aims to encourage regulations that reduce food waste. He targets his campaign towards policy-makers at both central and regional levels, including the private sector. Dhanny envisions a healthier environment, reduced hunger, and financial savings through a decrease in production costs from food disposal.
