Hafijal is a program and public advocacy staff at Masyarakat Transparansi Aceh (Aceh Transparency Society - MATA), focusing on campaigns against corruption and budget transparency issues in Aceh. In his advocacy work, Hafijal accompanies and spreads awareness to the people of Aceh in order for them to participate in monitoring public funds, such as the national budget, regional budgets, and village funds. Hafijal conducts studies and discussions on budget management, as well as monitors and reports potential cases of corruption by public officials at the village, district, and provincial levels.
Aside from being involved in anti-corruption campaigns, Hafijal is also active in a nature lovers'community and has campaigned on the issue of coastal erosion. Hafijal wants to encourage greater community involvement in monitoring public funds and urge the government to expedite the construction of breakwaters to mitigate coastal erosion caused by the onslaught of waves.
