Rika

Rika views that women are the most vulnerable group if the environment is damaged. She felt it when she struggled to get clean water for her family during a flood disaster. Based on her experience, the woman from Bengkulu province focuses her campaigning on forest environmental preservation involving women's groups in her area.

Together with the Women's Community for Saving World Heritage Sites (KPPSWD), which consists of mothers and female teenagers, Rika voices the issue of forest conservation by developing non-timber forest products which are managed by the communities around the Kerinci Seblat National Park. Rika and her community’s dream is to be able to strengthen the community's economy based on social and ecological entrepreneurship. She also hopes that women groups are also involved in forest maintenance and management.
