Sola

Born and raised in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, Sola often suffered the direct impacts of forest and land fires. Her concern about the haze and its impact on vulnerable groups, especially children, has encouraged her to be actively involved in the volunteer team of Greenpeace Indonesia Fire Prevention Team since 2017. Her involvement in this volunteer team has given a space for her to share knowledge and experience to the community about preventing forest and land fires, as well as inspiring sustainable actions and practices. Sola admitted that she was angry because the existing regulations had not been in favor of victims of haze and forest fires. Even companies caught doing open burning for clearing land do not receive an appropriate punishment. Since high school, Sola has also actively joined the volunteer community assisted by the Palung Foundation in campaigning for the protection of orangutans who lost their home due to land conversion and deforestation. As a member of the Palung Foundation, Sola is trying to educate the public about the importance of conserving wild animals and fighting against poaching of protected animals.
