For the past 5 years, Muhammad Abihul Fajar has been actively involved in environmental movements focused on supporting communities in advocating for the protection of forests and coastlines in West Nusa Tenggara. In his advocacy campaigns, Fajar not only acts as a spokesperson but also coordinates communi- ty support. Currently, Fajar is active in Sahabat Hijau Lestari in West Nusa Tenggara.
Based on his expe- riences, Fajar laments the number of development projects that marginalize communities, especially indigenous communities. He believes that local governments are more open to investments without carefully considering their impact on communities and the environment. He cites examples such as the cable car project in Rinjani, the "global hub" project marginalizing indigenous communities in North Lombok, and sand mining in coastal areas of West Nusa Tenggara.
Fajar also expresses concern about the increasing threats of persecution and intimidation faced by environmental activists who support communi- ties. In the future, Fajar aims to deepen his knowledge on how to create more impactful campaigns that can capture public attention and initiate dialogue with decision-makers.
