Sakdiyah Ma’ruf is a prolific comedian and public figure who has won numerous awards. As Indonesia’s first Muslim female stand-up comedian, Sakdiyah also frequently advocates for various causes, such as women’s empowerment, religious tolerance and dialogue, women’s and youth leadership, and the fight against violence against women, extremism, and all forms of discrimination.
She has not only excelled in the field of comedy but also holds a Master’s degree in American Studies. Additionally, she has been awarded various international honors for her work, including the 2015 Vaclav Havel International Prize for Creative Dissent and the 2018 BBC 100 Women. In addition to performing on stage as a stand-up comedian, Sakdiyah is actively involved as a Conference Interpreter, Talk Show Host, MC, Moderator, and Facilitator at various events. Together with her family, Sakdiyah is currently pioneering literacy and arts activities with villagers at Rumah Bambu Fatimah, Kalisalak Village, Batang, Central Java.
